October 24, 2001
In the month that we commemorate the tenth anniversary of Chiara Lubich’s death on March 14, 2008, we present a page from her diary written in October 2001. It shows her radical choice to love in every present moment, also in preparation for the end of her life.
By living the present moment well (with solemnity), I love God with all my heart, mind and strength. The end of life is the future that will become present. In order to prepare for the "moment on which Eternity depends", it will be enough, therefore, to live the present moment, from now on and forever.
In the present, it is always necessary to die in order to rise again. How? While accepting, sometimes, the need for mortifications, we die by loving. However, by loving, we also rise again.
In the present, we must do only the will of God, not thinking about, not wanting and not doing anything else. We must live it with actions that are whole and clean, like pure incense that rises up to God. And in that action we should put all our mind, heart, and strength.
