A roundabout is named after Chiara Lubich at the Northern entry to the City of Rimini

Saturday 30th May 2015

20150530 riminiA beautiful garden was the venue for 80/90 guests invited, both authorities and general public of all ages, caught up in an atmosphere of joy and friendship.  It was a playing out of the honorary citizenship of Rimini conferred on Chiara on the 23rd September 1997, when in the Golden Book of the City Council she wrote: “May Rimini and its citizens know the joy of perfect fraternity which spreads light and love all around”.

Various speakers recalled that event, including the President of the Foundation Savings Bank of Rimini.  “I came today because this is a key point. Chiara made us brothers and sisters among people who are different.  This is something new and innovative; and it is what can make a city become a fraternity”.  The Vice-Prefect said: “A roundabount is a crossroads and Chiara was that kind of person”.  He then pointed out that this roundabout links the North with the City of Rimini and it is very positive that in order to get into the City you must go via Chiara (=Trent).

Two plaques were dedicated to Chiara, one standing in the roundabout and one in the nearby garden, which make her message better known.
