The Will of God
Edited by Lucia Abignente
Right from its beginning, the Will of God had a central place in the charism of unity, lived out as our response of love to God. Chiara Lubich frequently spoke and wrote on this theme throughout the years, proposing it as the way to holiness for all, to be lived out in every present moment of our life.
Eli Folonari, who lived with Lubich for over 50 years, and who is now director of the Chiara Lubich Centre, testified: “Chiara was used to recognizing and loving the will of God in every circumstance. She did so right up to the end of her life. A note written by her was found between the pages of Mark’s Gospel: ‘Do not miss the appointment.’ With Jesus? With our neighbour? Certainly. By following, in every present moment of her day, ‘the ray’ of the will of that God that had revealed Himself as Love to her.”
This collection is full of documents, mostly unpublished, that are now housed in the Chiara Lubich Centre. It alternates between pages of her diary, letters, messages and reflections that make us participants in the journey travelled by Lubich, and offers the reader a synthesis of the understanding that she had on this cardinal point of the spirituality of unity.
